Hi there!

I’m so looking forward to making some beautiful photos with you. These won’t just be pretty pictures—they’ll tell the story of your crew right now. Whether we’re documenting a squishy newborn, a teething toddler, or a full-on big kid with opinions or energy to spare, I want your photos to feel like you. When your people look back on them one day, I hope they can feel your joy, hear your laugh, and know exactly how much you loved them—just by the way you looked at them. And hey, bonus: they’ll make a great birth announcement, Facebook profile pic, or Christmas card. Win-win.

Where are we meeting?

We’ll meet at Burkes Beach (60 Burkes Beach Rd, Hilton Head). Head toward the beach and look to your right—that’s where I’ll be. Heads up: it’s a bit of a walk. Like, solid 10 minutes. I know… I’m sorry. But it’s the BEST beach for photos, and it’s worth the little trek. Promise!

What do I need to know?

  1. Beach = wind. Hair blowing in your face isn’t the vibe we want, so bring a hair tie or plan for something pulled back.

  2. Pre-game the kids. Let them know something fun is waiting at the end—ice cream, staying up late, a small treat. I’ll have candy for the littles too.

  3. No pressure on the kids. I’ll ask a lot—but don’t worry if they don’t listen. I’d rather a happy kid than a fake smile on cue. I have kids; I get it. I’ll let you know if I actually need help.

  4. Feed ‘em, rest ‘em. I know it’s obvious, but a fed and well-rested kid is a happy photo subject. Same goes for grownups, to be honest. 😉

  5. Go with the flow. Every session has its own rhythm. Some feel chaotic, others calm. It’s all good. Trust that the magic is happening—even in the messy moments.

What should we wear?

Step 1: Browse my Pinterest board for inspiration. Then peek in your closet.

Step 2: Pick a vibe—Boho, preppy, Sunday casual, beachy. Whatever feels most like you.

Step 3: Lay it all out together and see how it meshes. Then tweak or shop if needed.

Step 4: Send me a pic at least a week in advance and I’ll help you polish it up.

Tips:

  • Wardrobe sets the whole mood. Light colors and pastels look great on the beach.

  • Avoid everyone matching—think coordinated, not identical.

  • Add texture and interest: a soft pattern, colored pants, hair bows, layers, accessories.

  • For dads: Light blue button-downs or vintage tees work great. White can be tough, but if you love it, I’m in.

  • For moms: Long flowy skirts, skinny jeans with a dressy top, layers, and simple jewelry photograph beautifully. Be mindful of short skirts—some of your photos may be seated.

  • For babies: Outfits made for newborn photography (or a simple, well-fitted onesie) work best. Want links? I’ve got you.

  • Feet: And unless shoes are your thing, go barefoot!

What about the kids?

They’re the whole reason we’re doing this, right? If it were just you and your partner, a selfie might’ve done the trick. I’ll bend a few rules, chase their giggles, let them tell me about their favorite dinosaur or princess, and ride the waves of their attention spans. It’s all part of it. And trust me—I love it. 😉

What should I bring?

  • Pacifiers if needed (and extras, because… sand).

  • Hair tie or clip.

  • Small post-session treat.

  • Towels and clothes for the car—just in case someone "accidentally" takes a dip.

When will I get my photos?

After your session, I spend a lot of time bringing your photos to life—editing, pondering, and making sure everything feels just right. Once I’m smiling at your gallery, I’ll send it your way! You can expect that within about 3 weeks.

Thank you.

I’m truly honored to photograph your family. I know it sounds a little cheesy, but I mean it—these moments matter. The photos I treasure most in my own life are the ones of people I’ve loved and lost. So thank you for letting me create something real and lasting for you.

Warmly,
Stephanie
